Benefits for long-distance patients
Provided that you choose a treatment center, which is fully accredited and adheres to strict safety protocols, it has never been easier for patients to travel for an FUE procedure. We utilize the SmartGraft® FUE hair system which helps promote a rapid recovery following an FUE transplant. As a result of the precise nature of the robotic FUE device, the hair graft extractions are minimally invasive since the recipient sites receive micro-implants of 1-2 hairs at once.
This means that the procedure creates micro-incisions which heal so quickly that they are barely perceptible within two to three days of the procedure. Although swimming and hot tubs should be avoided for several days, clients can resume most regular activities immediately after their procedure, as long as they take care to avoid rubbing or pressing their scalp. This means that it is possible for out of town patients to fly and return work immediately after the procedure.
For a few days after the procedure, your scalp may feel slightly sensitive. An over-the-counter pain medication can be taken to mitigate any discomfort following your hair transplant, however, this is often not necessary. Unlike previous hair restoration surgeries which were often painful, strong medications or sedatives are not required following an FUE treatment, which makes it easier to travel post-operatively.
In fact, the FUE is referred to as an ‘express’ surgery because it does not require a general anesthetic. Instead, a local anesthetic is injected into the patient’s scalp using a fine needle. In addition, because this minimally-invasive procedure utilizes tiny incisions and does not require scalpels, stitches or staples, no visible scarring is apparent afterward, which means your friends and family will not know you have undergone the procedure unless you choose to tell them.
