Common hair restoration myths
A quick online search for, ‘hair transplants in Miami,’ will turn up a wealth of before and after pictures, along with an abundance of information. The problem is, not all the information available online about hair transplants is correct. Some is downright misleading, alarming or confusing. We’re here to clear the air by debunking 5 of the more common hair restoration myths we’ve seen. You need to separate fact from fiction when planning your procedure- we can help.
1. Hair transplants in Miami aren’t suitable for older patients
Even patients who are 70, 80 and older can be suitable hair restoration candidates. The key is the availability of donor hair. In fact, patients who are 50 and older often make great patients because their hair loss pattern has stabilized, and subtle density filling provides them with long-lasting, age-appropriate results.
Conversely, if you are too young, your surgeon may advise you to wait for patterns and progression of balding to develop. Undergoing a transplant too soon can lead to unpredictable and undesirable results.
2. Hair transplants are only for men
An estimated 40-50% of women experience progressive hair loss in their lifetime. That means plenty of females can benefit from a hair transplant in Miami. What is true about the nature of their hair loss as it relates to transplantation is that it can be more challenging to correct. Women tend to experience diffuse shedding throughout the scalp which makes selecting and extracting donor grafts more labour-intensive. It’s not impossible, however, and if you’re a woman suffering from thinning hair, we encourage you to contact the Nova Medical Hair Transplant Clinic.
