Miami FUE – Here’s Why It Works
When planning a cosmetic procedure like FUE in Miami, our patients have many common and important questions.
Hair transplant comes at a significant cost ,and it’s fair to ask, ‘how long will the results last?” after all, most people would prefer not to have to undergo the procedure repeatedly. The results are advertised as permanent, but what does that really mean?
Sort for follicular unit excision, FUE allows the hair transplant surgeon to take individual hair grafts from one location on the scalp and transplant them to another. The hairs are extracted with a tiny, rotary punch device and typically use pneumatic suction and pressure to assist with rapid relocation.
The back and sides of the head are where denser, DHT resistant hairs are typically found in men suffering from pattern baldness. Because these hairs are immune to effects of the hormone that causes androgenic alopecia, they’ll usually stay in place long after the hair at the crown has fallen out. It’s that resilience that makes them ideally suited to relocation at the top of the head and hairline.
What Is DHT And How Does It Affect Hair’s Longevity?
Dihydrotesterone is an androgen which is produced as a by-product of the hormone, testosterone. It’s the primary causefor progressive, pattern hair loss in men and affects women as well. In females, the pattern of shedding due to DHT is usually more diffused throughout the scalp without separate balding and ‘safe’ zones. Therefore, it’s trickier, (but not impossible) to restore hair fullness using FUE for women. In males, that dense, DHT resistant hair that remains in the safe zone is the key to hair transplant permanence.
